The Future Citizen Institute issues a response to the European Commissions's report on CBI/RBI schemes in Europe.

In a response to The European Commission Report on Investor Citizenship and Residence schemes in the EU released on 23 January 2019, The Future Citizen Institute examines common misconceptions of CBI and RBI programmes that are present in the European Commission Report. In this response we examine misconceptions on:  

  • “Genuine link” criteria,
  • Cooperation amongst member states,
  • Transparency and;
  • Security concerns

 

The response also strives to quantify the impacts of Investment Migration programmes by showcasing economic impacts in Malta and Cyprus. The response concludes by stating the case for the increased use of Licensed Funds as an investment vehicle to improve transparency, reduce risk and create quantifiable data.
